One of my new go-to spots for pizza in town.
When I first saw this place on social media, I assumed it was another gimmicky “trendy pizza” spot. The photos made every pie look way too heavy. But after finally giving it a try, it turned out to be some of the best Detroit-style pizza I’ve had in Boston.
Tried three different kinds, and I was immediately hooked by the buttery crusts. Thick, crispy, and so fragrant that you could smell the butter from across the table. Despite being nearly as tall as a Chicago deep dish, the base was airy and pillowy, so it never felt too dense. My favorites were the Truff Guy and the No Name.
I also love that they offer a personal size option, which comes as two massive triangular slices. I can rarely handle more than a couple of slices anyway, so it’s the perfect portion.
From the friendly service to the overall atmosphere to the yum-e-licious pizza, salad and local pops, this was an excellent experience!
It was so good my lovely love wife and I came back an hour after we left and ordered another pizza and salad to go.
The great Dave Portnoy of One Bite Pizza Reviews gave this an 8.1. While I acknowledge that is a high score, that is too low with all due respect!
This is a great Detroit pizza place. The food is well priced especially considering that this is Boston. We ordered the electric avenue and the pepperoni pizza. The pepperoni was alright but the electric avenue was wonderful. The flavors of electric avenue blend together well it’s sweet and savory. The service was quick and fast.
Truly the best pizza I think I’ve ever had! Service and atmosphere were amazing too!!
Was at the Boston location in the Pru and will definitely be back again!
Almost brought me to tears—this pizza was that good! Every bite was an explosion of flavor. If you love pizza, you have to try Descendant Detroit Style Pizza. The only thing that matched the quality of the pizza was the incredible staff.
During a short visit to Boston, my wife and I stopped in to grab some pizza for dinner. While we were reading the menu board on the wall, the manager, Agon, came over and personally walked us through each pizza, explaining the ingredients and answering all our questions. I ordered the most popular pizza, the "No Name" and wow, the first bite gave me goosebumps. My wife had the "Canadian" and it didn't disappoint!
Alex, the owner, stopped by our table to check in and make sure we were enjoying everything. Every team member was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We walked in as strangers but it felt like we left as friends. This place is an absolute grand slam!
I have always loved a good Chicago deep dish and thin crust pie from the Windy City. And I’ve grown to appreciate a good New York slice.
But several years ago, I stumbled upon Detroit Style Pizza, and I’ve never looked back. Nothing compares to that crunchy, caramelized cheese crust and the creative topping combinations.
And Descendant Pizza? It's hands down the best I’ve ever had. You gotta give it a try!
My only regret is that we don’t have one back home.
